Suppliers of artisan cheeses to the Royal Households

paxton

Paxton & Whitfield are an artisan cheesemonger that sells a wide selection of British and Continental European cheeses, fine foods, wines and cheese serving accessories. Their range of products can be bought through their three retail shops (London, Bath and Stratford-upon-Avon), their online shop and from fine food shops that include Harrods and Harvey Nichols. They also operate a wholesale operation and supply our fine products to some of the UK's leading hotels and restaurants, including the Caprice Holdings Group, Gildleigh Park in Devon and The Goring, London. The company currently hold Royal Warrants to provide cheese to Her Majesty The Queen and to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.

They were granted their first Royal Warrant in 1850 by Her Majesty Queen Victoria and there have been many landmark events for the company since that date. One of their greatest achievements as a company is managing to trade successfully for such a long time. Post World World War II with the loss of artisan cheesemaking in Great Britain there was a period where they traded as a grocery shop as these cheeses were very scarce. Thankfully, the artisan cheesemaking industry started to rekindle and today it is thriving which makes their business very exciting!

During the Coronation Festival, Paxton & Whitfield are planning on having a different artisan cheesemaker on their stand everyday. They will be cheesemakers who regularly supply the company with their delicious products, showcasing the great cheeses available from Great Britain. They will also be selling goody bags that include artisan cheese and other fine food items that visitors to the exhibition can buy to enjoy on site or take home with them. There will also be a range of fine food items, biscuits for cheese and pickles, that they sell in our shops for visitors to purchase.
