Buckingham Palace to welcome top British rider

Lucky visitors to this summer's Coronation Festival will have the exclusive opportunity to meet one of Britain's top young riders, Sophie Wells MBE, but also receive riding tuition on a mechanical horse.

Dodson & Horrell, Europe's leading manufacturer of horse feed, has been invited to this unique event having held a Royal Warrant for its horse feed since 1985, and for its dog food brand Chudleys since 2006.

Dressage rider Sophie Wells, who won Team Gold and two Individual Silver medals at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, will be at the Festival at Buckingham Palace to fly the flag for British riding on behalf of Dodson & Horrell.

And as well as one of the country's most talented young riders, Dodson & Horrell will also be joined by the mechanical horse from the joint Hoof and British Equestrian Trade Association initiative 'Take Up the Reins', allowing Festival-goers to try horseriding for the first time or hone their existing riding skills, under the expert guidance of Sophie.

'Take Up the Reins' is the British Equestrian Federation's Olympic and Paralympic legacy campaign, which aims to encourage more people to take up horseriding or get involved with the sport, and it will take pride of place on the Dodson & Horrell stand at the Festival.

As well as supporting talented riders, Dodson & Horrell is the official supplier of nutrition to Equestrian Team GBR.

Commenting on her involvement with the Festival, Sophie Wells, said: "It's a real privilege to be invited to The Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace by Dodson & Horrell and l am so pleased that the mechanical horse will be there as well; part of the London 2012 legacy is all about inspiring the next generation and you never know, we may be able to inspire a future riding champion."
