Matthew Gloag & Son Ltd

Fine Food & Drink

The story of The Famous Grouse is as rich and absorbing as the whisky itself. It stretches back to 1800, when the little local store of Matthew Gloag & Son opened in Perth, Scotland. Created in 1896 by founder Matthew Gloag it was originally called The Grouse brand. The brand became so popular that on August 12th 1905 it was renamed The Famous Grouse – and this date remains the brand's birthday.

Today the company produces more than 30 million bottles of whisky to more than 100 countries and has been the top selling whisky in Scotland for more than 30 years.

It's top of the Scotch in Sweden, Finland Norway and Denmark and has been the number one selling whisky in Scotland for more than thirty years.

The Famous Grouse is today flanked by a range of whiskies that appeal to different consumers and consumption occasions:

· The Famous Grouse is smooth with a chocolate orange flavour with a long, slow finish.
· The Snow Grouse is a delicate and vanilla sweet – perfect for serving straight from the freezer.
· The Black Grouse is rich, spicy, sweet and smoky and is best served neat or on the rocks.
· Finally, The Naked Grouse, famously smooth, ultra sherried whisky ideally served on the rocks or long in your preferred cocktail.
