Sally Mangum
Style, Pursuits & Pastimes
Calligrapher and heraldic artist, Sally Mangum, draws from an array of traditional and modern skills, materials and tools of a craft that spans centuries. Taking a creative approach to commissions, she enjoys working with hand-dipped pens, hand-ground ink, gold leaf, vellum and paints. Inspired by natural forms as well as medieval and Renaissance manuscripts, she delights in richly coloured designs, exquisite detail and finely embellished illumination.
As well as holding a Royal Warrant to HM the Queen for calligraphy, Sally is also a QEST Scholar. She was awarded the scholarship to study Heraldic Art at Reigate School of Art & Design, and went on to win a bursary for Heraldic Art from the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers followed by a prize for Calligraphy & Illumination from the Company of Scriveners.
With demand for hand-crafted work as strong as ever, Sally accepts a wide range of unique commissions.
