Thresher & Glenny

Style, Pursuits & Pastimes

Founded in 1683 under the Sign of the Peacock on the Strand, Thresher & Glenny can lay strenuous claim to being London's oldest gentleman's outfitter. They have held their Royal Warrant continuously since George III granted the first in 1783.

The current warrant is for Shirt Making, still very much a speciality. Over the years T&G have made shirts for many leaders of men, including the famous red shirt of Garibaldi, unifier of Italy and defiantly demanding dresser.

Other alumni include The Mikado of Japan, the Pasha of Egypt, many Viceroys of India and, perhaps most notably, Lord Nelson – who stood fast to the last in T&G stockings. 'Buffalo' Bill Cody was a fan, helping T&G become a byword for English style across the USA. You may well meet a few of these at or around our stand.

Our founders were not cut from the same cloth. Thresher was the moderniser, Glenny the traditionalist. Our presence at the Coronation event embodies both. Most of us contain both impulses, and most gentlemen's wardrobes attest to this. We have T days and G days; T occasions and G events.

Take our amusing test at the event to see where your own balance lies. In the meantime, do visit www.thresherandglenny.com for inspiration.
